Public Adjuster For Hurricane Damage In Miami

Now is the time people need to get ready for their hurricane plans.

1-Did you really know what insurance policy do you have?

It’s not that difficult to do in the sense that everybody has a Dec page, a Declarations page. It’s the front page of your policy. Pull that out, look at it. Are the coverages right, are the amounts right? If not, ask your insurance agent. They’re happy to help you.

It’s not just wallpaper, read the fine print there. First… call your insurance agent and check to really make sure you understand the deductibles, exactly what’s covered. Things have changed so much over the last few years. You need to know where you stand if you’re in the path of the storm.

2-Take a household inventory.

It’s very easy nowadays with all the technology. Take out your cell phone, take out any kind of camera and take photos of your valuable items. Not just things that could be damaged in a regular storm, but things disappear anytime. You could have a fire, you could have the hurricane, there could be a theft after a hurricane. Take pictures of your valuables, keep them somewhere safe and keep them on your phone.

Your important documents are stored. And the key here is in a safe place. Because if your home gets flooded, those documents are no good.

That’s an interesting point. What you wanna do is have hard copies of documents, put them in something that’s waterproof. In addition, take an Adobe PDF, take a photograph of them, email them to yourself. That way you can download it from anywhere and you’ve got your information available to you.

3- Keep your property prepared.

This is something that people do after the storm is starting and the wind is coming and they realize they left all their patio furniture out. You wanna make sure anything lose is tied down. Things like your patio umbrellas, those are missiles. Not only can they injure people, but they can cause additional damage. Make sure any debris that’s in your yard is thrown away or put in your garage. Don’t have things outside that can be dangerous when the storm.

4-Get the Plywood Now.

Don’t wait till the last minute to be able to secure the plywood. And then, there’s a number of different ways that you can actually attach the plywood. And, you know, some people just really don’t wanna put a lot of screws, bolts, and nuts and things in.

Kevlar canvas.

Another option is some canvas. You can use canvas that actually is made from Kevlar. So, it’s a great way to go, you know, just like the bulletproof vest. But here’s a couple suggestions. First of all, get your plywood. Number it appropriately for your windows such you’re not trying to figure out which window which. Then, go ahead and pre-drill some holes in your plywood so that you make sure that you have it all ready to go. And then, pick you up a few of these. These are readily available. These are little window studs that you actually attach into either the brick or the window trim and then you have the stainless steel wings that go right over it. So, that doesn’t look too bad if you’re seeing that on the outside of your house. And then, you keep these in a bag with your plywood. Very, very easy to protect your family
